Tendring Groups, Something New for the Winter Months
Once the summer crowds leave Clacton, Frinton and Walton, the beach walks get colder and the list of things to do gets shorter. Outdoor courts get rained off and the same old evenings come round again.
Foxes Pickleball is a private indoor court in a converted barn on our working farm at Eight Ash Green, just the other side of Colchester. It is around 35 minutes from Clacton and closer still from Brightlingsea and Manningtree. When you book, the court is yours for the hour.
A game for every age on the Tendring coast
If you love padel, you will love this. Pickleball has the same quick rallies with a slower ball and a smaller court, so beginners are playing proper points within about 10 minutes. It is easy to learn and just as much fun at 70 as at 17.
That is why it suits Tendring so well: retired couples looking for a regular game, grandparents playing with grandchildren in the school holidays, friends from Holland on Sea and Harwich after a new weekly fixture, and families with visitors to entertain on a wet day.
The barn is indoors and private, so the weather never gets a say and there is nobody watching from the next court. Put your own music on the Sonos speakers, take your time and enjoy the hour.
Up to 4 players can play per booking. If there are more of you, book back to back hours and swap players in and out.
£20 an hour for up to 4 players
One booking covers up to 4 players for 60 minutes at a flat £20 an hour. There is no membership and no peak pricing, paddles and balls are ready on court, and there is parking right outside the barn. We are open 7 days a week, so a weekday game is just as easy to book as a weekend one, and booking online takes about 2 minutes.

3. Walk onto your own court and play.
